Who runs this
books.oriz.in is operated by Chirag Singhal, based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India, as part of the oriz family. Contact: [email protected].
What we collect
- Cloudflare Web Analytics — aggregate page views and country. Cookieless. No personal identifiers.
- Authentication — if you sign in, Firebase
Authentication stores your email, display name, and profile photo
(if you sign in with Google/GitHub). We never see your password.
The same login works across every
*.oriz.insite. - Bookmarks — when you bookmark a book while signed
in, the list of
bookCodes is stored in Firestore under your user ID and accessible only to you. - Contact form — submissions go through Web3Forms which forwards them to my email. Web3Forms keeps copies; see their privacy policy.
- Display ads — once approved, Google AdSense may set cookies to personalise ads. You can opt out via the consent banner or at adssettings.google.com.
What we don't do
- No tracking across sessions for analytics (Cloudflare is anonymous).
- No selling of personal data to third parties.
- No newsletters unless you explicitly subscribe.
- No PDF interception — chapter and full-book downloads go directly from your browser to
ncert.nic.in; we never see them.
Your rights
You can delete your account from the account page; this removes your Firebase Auth record and the Firestore documents under it (including bookmarks).
Under India's DPDP Act 2023, you have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data. Contact the grievance officer.
Children
Books indexes school textbooks but is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data to us, contact the grievance officer for removal.
Changes
We will update this page when the practice changes, with the new date at the top. Material changes get a banner on the site.
